HELPFUL TIP:

Conflict is your story’s secret sauce, supplying tension, relationship friction, and complications to a character’s journey. It comes in a million different forms, so identify the obstacles and problems that will hit your character the hardest by using the Character Builder to uncover their primary insecurities, fears , and desires. Don’t forget to include everyday conflict scenarios that will frustrate them and keep the pressure high.
CATEGORY:
Increased pressure and ticking clocks, loss of control, failures and mistakes, moral dilemmas and temptations, power struggles

NOTES:
No one wants to be audited—at work or at home. For an innocent character, it's a major inconvenience, requiring many man hours dedicated to tracking down receipts, accounting for expenses, and double checking the books. For a character who has knowingly broken the law, there is much more at risk, including hefty fines, loss of reputation, being fired, and even jail time. For either party, worry and stress will accompany an audit, making this a scenario with lots of conflict opportunities.

MINOR COMPLICATIONS:
Trying to recall the details of various expenses
Having to hire a bookkeeper
Enduring meetings with the auditor
Feeling scrutinized
Being accused of wrongdoing when the character is innocent
The audit revealing a mistake made by the character that makes them look guilty
The audit scaring away associates (vendors, potential clients, etc.)
Minor stress-related issues (hypertension, loss of appetite, etc.)
Constant worry making it difficult to cope with other minor issues in life
