HELPFUL TIP:

Conflict is your story’s secret sauce, supplying tension, relationship friction, and complications to a character’s journey. It comes in a million different forms, so identify the obstacles and problems that will hit your character the hardest by using the Character Builder to uncover their primary insecurities, fears , and desires. Don’t forget to include everyday conflict scenarios that will frustrate them and keep the pressure high.

EXAMPLES:
Being kicked out of a church or religious organization
The character becoming estranged from loved ones
Losing a professional accreditation or standing
Getting barred from a social media platform
Being pushed out of a social circle
Being disinvited from an organized activity
The character losing their place on a sports team
Being removed from a committee or board
Being told to leave a commune or community 

MINOR COMPLICATIONS:
Having to give up a title or trappings, such as a special parking spot 
Having to return items tied to the group (an access card, keys, etc.)
Having to hide a range of emotions—possibly shame, humiliation, or anger
Needing to confront the group
Losing friends within the organization when leadership requires a clean break from the character
Changing routines to avoid members of the group
Being pumped for information by family, friends, or people who feed off drama
The character having no control over what is being said within the group about their departure 
Needing to make new social or professional connections
Handling rumors about what happened
Lying about the events that led to the falling out
