HELPFUL TIP:

Conflict is your story’s secret sauce, supplying tension, relationship friction, and complications to a character’s journey. It comes in a million different forms, so identify the obstacles and problems that will hit your character the hardest by using the Character Builder to uncover their primary insecurities, fears , and desires. Don’t forget to include everyday conflict scenarios that will frustrate them and keep the pressure high.

EXAMPLES:
A coach or authority figure being exposed for abusing minors in their charge
A lawyer being disbarred
A member of the clergy losing the respect of their congregation
The character being blackballed for their political or religious beliefs
The character's reputation being deliberately attacked in a smear campaign
A doctor being found guilty of malpractice
A business owner or prominent politician going to jail for fraud
Public backlash against a celebrity for their actions or beliefs
The character getting caught lying or passing along misinformation

MINOR COMPLICATIONS:
Losing support of friends, family, or fans
Experiencing discomfort when facing co-workers or former supporters
The character having to defend their reputation in endless meetings or discovery sessions
Having to make a public statement
Dealing with snide remarks or criticism from co-workers or strangers
