HELPFUL TIP:

Conflict is your story’s secret sauce, supplying tension, relationship friction, and complications to a character’s journey. It comes in a million different forms, so identify the obstacles and problems that will hit your character the hardest by using the Character Builder to uncover their primary insecurities, fears , and desires. Don’t forget to include everyday conflict scenarios that will frustrate them and keep the pressure high.

An informant being killed
An important resource (a lawyer, doctor, therapist, etc.) moving across the country 
Having to end a relationship because of competing interests
The character losing custody of their child
Someone important becoming incarcerated
A friendship ending
Someone being out of reach (they're deployed at sea, in a coma, etc.) with vital information 
A third party controlling the character's communication with the person
A star employee or moneymaker leaving the character's business to start their own
Someone the character admires or idolizes getting a restraining order against them
A loved one going missing
The character's ex kidnapping their child and disappearing with them
A mentor falling ill when the character desperately needs advice and guidance
Losing an ally

MINOR COMPLICATIONS:
