Conflict is your story’s secret sauce, supplying tension, relationship friction, and complications to a character’s journey. It comes in a million different forms, so identify the obstacles and problems that will hit your character the hardest by using the Character Builder to uncover their primary insecurities, fears , and desires. Don’t forget to include everyday conflict scenarios that will frustrate them and keep the pressure high.

EXAMPLES:
A character realizing they've lost their credit card and having to ask their date to pay
The character losing their job and needing help with monthly expenses
An unexpected expense (having to replace a car, a medical emergency, etc.) making it impossible for the character to make ends meet
The character needing someone to bail them out of jail because they can't afford it
A young adult character borrowing money from parents so they can buy a house or start a business
The character asking family for a loan when they've mismanaged their finances
An addict borrowing money under false pretenses to fund their addiction
A character who is living beyond their means trying to borrow money from family members 
Needing to acquire money quickly to pay someone off—to keep a secret from coming to light, for instance

MINOR COMPLICATIONS:
Inconveniences associated with being short on finances 
Being embarrassed 
Disagreements between the character and their significant other about borrowing the money
The character having to admit to others that they're in this situation
Time spent planning out the conversation so it can be successful
Having to lie about what the loan is for
Having to approach someone the character knows is going to be difficult
