CHOOSE MY PLAN

HELPFUL TIP:

There’s probably a good reason why your character chose their career. Think about how certain talents and skills, a dominant positive or negative trait, or even an emotional wound might have influenced this decision. And once they're on the job, don't forget about the many work-related conflict scenarios you can throw at them to create tension and add complications.
OVERVIEW:
Robotics engineers work in an array of industries, such as manufacturing, film and entertainment, mining, and space exploration. This job involves a large amount of research and design to establish the concept for the robot, followed by its construction, and, finally, thorough testing to be sure it works as intended. If the robot already exists, the engineer is tasked with developing new applications or software for it. Regardless, for most projects, the engineer will work collaboratively with others rather than independently.

NECESSARY TRAINING:
Some universities offer degree programs specifically in robotics, but typically, engineers just need to have a bachelor's degree in a related field (like mechanical engineering). Licensing is required for those who wish to work independently or pursue higher-level jobs, and certain career paths, such as teaching in the field, will require a master's or doctorate degree. Because new research is being published at a steady rate, continuing education is a priority for anyone in this position.
