HELPFUL TIP:

Your story's theme is its central message to readers and can be reinforced with specific symbols and motifs pulled right from the setting. Additionally, symbols woven into a scene can underscore your character's emotions, establish mood, and even generate conflict. Explore your story theme thoughtfully and use associated symbols to do more with less.
NOTES:
Instability is similar to DISORDER but is less extreme. While the latter is about turmoil and chaos, instability is more about unpredictability and uncertainty.

THEMATIC STATEMENTS THAT MAY APPLY TO YOUR STORY:
A relationship built on unstable elements won't last.
Creativity and inspiration diminish in an unstable environment.
Stability is a necessity for children.
Enjoy the moments of stability when they come, because they won't last.
Seasons of instability prepare us for future trials.
Controlling our response to unpredictable events gives us stability in unstable times.

LIES (ANTI-THEMATIC STATEMENTS) YOUR CHARACTER MIGHT BELIEVE:
This is just temporary; things will get better soon. (This is a lie when there are things the character needs to change that are contributing to the instability)
This is just how things are; I can't expect them to get better.
This is what I'm used to.
I thrive on chaos.
I don't create the drama. It just happens.
I can't be comfortable unless security and stability are a sure thing.
Unpredictability and spontaneity are exciting; it's what people love about me.
